Dr. David Samadi brings his SMART Surgery Technique to Israel
SMART Surgery is a technique that can render prostate cancer patients cancer-free, continent, and sexually potent. Dr. Samadi stated: “In my practice, 97% of my patients regain urinary control, and 85% regain sexual function. The robot helps me perform better in surgery with superior visual accuracy and bloodless field. With open surgery, you work blindly in a blood-filled pool and end up experiencing complications. With robotic surgery, it is more precise than open surgery, and nobody returns with complications”. Such an advanced procedure had to be put into practice in many hospitals over the world. Therefore, in 2010, Dr. Samadi performed his signature SMART Surgery Technique at Rambam Medical Center in Israel, as part of his groundbreaking weeklong educational trip. Dr. Samadi performed live robotic prostate surgery for urologists at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, northern Israel.
The first patient at Rambam to undergo this surgery with the newly acquired robot was a 72-year-old man from Haifa. He was also the first man in Israel to be operated on by Dr. Samadi. After the surgery, Dr. Samadi stated: “To be able to do this is a great privilege and we’re delighted to be here.”
Back in 2010, Dr. Samadi has dedicated his time to mentor the Israeli surgeons in his technique. In 2013, Dr. Samadi has established the biggest prostate cancer support group in Israel. Hundreds came to the lecture in Israel to hear him speak, spreading prostate cancer awareness, highlighting preventative measures and the importance of getting PSA screened.
