12 Days to more satisfying sex

12 Days to more satisfying sex (1)

Maybe your sex life has fizzled somewhat.  Maybe feelings of fulfillment or pleasure have been far and few between.  Maybe what you need is a restart to a more satisfying sex life.  But how does that happen?  The key to enjoying a more satisfying sex life doesn’t happen in one night.  Your sex life, just like all aspects of your life, needs nurturing.  If you neglect to water your houseplants, it won’t take long before they begin to wilt.  Your sex life is no different.  Too much spent on other areas of your life while neglecting your sexual side can result in it wilting into oblivion if you’re not careful.

How to achieve more satisfying sex in 12 days

To help revive a failing sex life lacking sexual satisfaction, here are 12 things to for the next 12 days bringing it back to life:

  1. Get moving

In order for men to achieve an erection or women to reach orgasm, good blood flow is necessary. This means you must move more as in engaging in some type of cardiovascular activity.  Whether it’s a jog or an aerobics class, movement that gets your heart rate elevated increases circulation and therefore blood flow to the genitals.  Better blood flow makes sex more pleasurable for you and your partner.

  1. Start with a phone call

To get your partner in the mood, set the stage early.  Give them a call from work or when you’re about to arrive back home, telling them what you love about them and how you’ll show it.

  1. Make sex fun

Sometimes we worry too much about the “performance” and not enough about simply having fun.  It’s just you and your partner so keep the focus on fun by giving each other massages, sharing fantasies or trying out new positions.

  1. Go out on a date

When was the last time you went on a “date?”  If it’s been awhile, ask one another out and do something you both enjoy.  Whether it’s seeing a movie, riding bikes or walking in the park, fun activities together can lead to a fun activity later on.

  1. Eat foods to get you in the mood

Yes, there really are foods that appear to help turn on your sex drive.  Consider adding the  following foods for getting in the mood – dark chocolate, avocadoes, asparagus, oysters, strawberries or chili peppers.

  1. Put on the brakes

Let’s take it down a notch if you or your partner jumps into bed at full speed. Slow and steady is a great way to spend more time making sex more satisfying. Make your mantra, “linger longer in bed,” by touching each other in places you rarely do – back of the neck, behind the knees, feet, or small of the back. Pretend like it’s your first time making love and see what a difference it makes.

  1. Clear distractions out of your bedroom

Pretend like you are somebody walking into your bedroom for the very first time.  What would they see?  Would they see neatness and organization or a messy room, unmade bed and electronic devices? If it’s the latter, it’s time to clean up.  It’s hard to be passionate when you have to clear out the computers, TV’s and other distraction to focus on what matters.  Make it a rule to always make your bed, keep clothes and towels off the floor and no electronics allowed in the bedroom.  Take away distractions and suddenly, there’s more room for your sex life.

  1.   Forget about your age

Stop negative thoughts about how old you may be and why your sex life will never be the same as when you were young.  If you think a lagging sex drive is just part of getting older, think again.  A drop in libido at any age merits a trip to the doctor.  But believing that your best sex is over is not necessarily true. Maybe it may not be as frequent but when it does happen, it’s likely to be more meaningful.

  1. Make sleep a priority

In order to have satisfying sex, you need to get sufficient sleep. Too many nights staying up late or early mornings waking up can squelch even the best sex life.  Have a bedtime routine, get to bed so that you will have at least 7-8 hours of sleep and even take a short (no more than 20 minutes) nap to be well-rested for when the mood strikes.

  1. Fix painful sex

If the problem for a downward spiraling sex life is due to pain, discuss with your doctor on what to do.  Women, especially when going through menopause, may benefit from lubricants to relieve vaginal dryness preventing painful sex.

  1. Wear red

In a study, men found women wearing red more attractive than women in other less lively colors. So, ladies, put on your crimson-colored clothes and send your sex life soaring.

  1. Consider morning sex

Morning sex can be a perfect time and start to your day.  You’ll likely have more energy from the feel-good hormones the rest of the day and men can take advantage of an early morning erection.  It’s a win-win for both of you.
